HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS
Hydraulic cylinders
are the actuators for high pressure application. Fluid (Hydro) is
the media used to actuate the actuators and hence the actuators are
termed as Hydraulic Cylinders. Fluid is a non compressible media.
Hence it transmits all the pressure applied on it. Therefore it
exerts maximum force in application. The hydraulic cylinders are
designed for high pressure application and hence the size of the
cylinders is compact as compared with the conventional pneumatic
cylinders. |

All the loose parts in a hydraulic cylinder are tied together with high tensile threaded rods. Hence the type of the cylinder is called as Tie Rod Construction. The cylinders are designed to withstand normally up to 300 Kg/Sq. Cm. (4250 Lbs/Sq. Inch). Hydraulic seals in a cylinder play a vital roll in its application. The company selects the seals to suit the working conditions of the cylinder.

In Low Pressure Die Casting (LPDC) application normally the dies are pre-heated with flame. Oil being an inflammable media, chances of fire catching is more. Hence a fluid which is less fire hazardous is used as actuation media. A compound of Water + Glycol is normally used in lieu of mineral oil. Hence the cylinders are termed as Water Based Cylinders. The features of these cylinders are same as Tie Rod Construction. The cylinders are designed to withstand normally up to 160 Kg/Sq. Cm. (2250 Lbs/Sq. Inch). A special types of hydraulic seals are used in these type of cylinders. |

Threaded Neck

High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) is an area where bigger castings are cast with many intricacies. Many cores are involved to form internal cavities in the castings. The cylinders are directly mounted on the dies in application. The cylinder parts are machined, since carburized material. Piston Rings are used as piston seals. A set of Chevron packing is used as rod seal. The cylinder mounting is on the threading provided on the projection (Neck) of the cylinder body itself. Hence the cylinders are termed as Threaded Neck Mounting. |

Since a lot of pressure is exerted from Pressure Die Casting Industries, the company designed and developed hydraulic cylinders with combination of Threaded Neck Mounting and standard Tie Rod Construction. The main features of the cylinders are as follows.
1. Cushioning by default at both ends.
